Foot and Shoe Odor

Smelly Stinky Shoes be gone!

The smell of stinky shoes can be overwhelming and make you want to throw them away. Heres a few great tips to remove and prevent the odors for someone with stinky shoes!

Just pop in some Tea Bags!

To make the teabags even more efficient add a few drops of Tea Tree or Eucalyptus oil, you can also wipe the insides of your shoes on a regular basis to kill the bacteria that causes the odour.

Here’s another tip, its an old wives tale but apparently it works. Stuff the shoes with newspaper. That’s right. Newspaper! Leave over night and your shoes should be “stink-free” come morning!

Baking soda is also awesome. Stuff some old cotton socks with stuffing, add some baking soda its great for absorbing odors, seal with a rubber band or stitch the top closed. Ive heard kitty litter can be used the same way. Just leave these socks in your shoes when your not wearing them.

Dryer sheets with a few drops of Eucalyptus oil will absorb the odors. Tear them in half and leave in your shoes when you not wearing them.

If you can, wash them, pop them  in the washing machine add a teaspoon of Eucalyptus Oil with normal washing detergent and then dry them completely. From then on use the above tips and they will never stink again!!

Cheers, Bev

Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil

This unique oil is the only one of it’s kind in the world. It is distilled from the leaf of the Kangaroo Island Narrow Leaf Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia). Emu Ridge is the only commercial Eucalyptus Distillery remaining in South Australia.
Distillation of the oil began in the 1880’s and dozens of stills were established, making it one of the Island’s major industries.
One company, F.H.Faulding & Co purchased Emu Ridge in 1923, establishing two plantations in 1938 for the purpose of systematically harvesting it on a rotational basis. (The Narrow Leaf responds well to pruning.) Most success, however, was achieved by individuals who set up stills as a seasonal sideline.
Our oil is distilled in the traditional method at Emu Ridge. The leaf is placed into a pot containing water, beneath which a fire is lit, steam carrying the oil is passed through a system of cooling pipes, the oil separates and is piped off into containers. The raw oil undergoes another refining process to produce the final product crystal clear oil.
Native farming is far better for our environment, no sprays and chemicals, a great renewable resource and natural product.

Treat that annoying Mosquito Bite with Eucalyptus or Tea Tree Oil!

Ok we have been enjoying the Darwin weather but when we first arrived I forgot to wear my insect repellent and was attacked by midges!! I gave this a try and yes it really works for about 12 hours and then repeated! Amazing! Share so others can try it too. Eucalyptus and Tea tree oil are a great help too, just put a drop on the bite and it takes the itch away! Great for any insect bites too!

Eucalyptus Oil is also a great insect repellent for those mosquitoes! Just put a few drops on your neck, ankles, wrists and behind the ears to stop them biting! If there are heaps also add a few drops of Eucalyptus to a moisturiser and rub all over the body.

Use Tea Tree oil because Nail and Foot Fungi isn’t Nice!

Nail and foot fungi isn’t nice! As soon as you notice signs, mix together a few drops of tea tree oil, and a teaspoon of olive oil. Soak a cotton ball in the mixture and apply to affected area pressing it on gently but firmly so the liquid comes out. Let this dry naturally. Alternatively, you can place 4-5 drops of tea tree oil in enough water to soak your feet in, and do that for 15-20 minutes. Both treatments should be done morning and evening.

Australian Tea Tree Oil

What is Tea Tree Oil?

Tea Tree Oil is a volatile essential oil obtained by steam distillation of freshly harvested foliage of Melaleuca Alternifolia, one of about 200 species of Melaleuca indigenous to Australia. The oil is clear, colourless to pale yellow, with a characteristic odour.

The Curative Power of the Tea Tree

The versatile use of the Tea Tree has been well known to the Aboriginals for thousands of years. They made healing compresses of the leaf for wounds, cuts and skin diseases. For inside cleaning they ate some leaves, and the women changed their babies in Tea Tree bark to cover them from inflections.

Today the Australian doctors have rediscovered Tea Tree Oil as a cure against skin problems and many more. The oil possesses bacterial activity against a wide number of bacteria and fungi. A broad range of cosmetic, therapeutic, veterinary, household and industrial products include this oil for its healing powers with clinical trials proving the oil’s effectiveness.
