Welcome Back Cruise Ships!

We welcomed back cruise ships to Kangaroo Island for the 2022-23 season after more than 2 and a half years! It was fantastic to see over 30 cruise ships visit our Island and help boost businesses from Sept 2022 through to April 2023.

Cruise ships have become a big economic boost to KI and visitors get to see and enjoy our special Island via shore-based tours, hire cars or simply wandering around the tranquil town of Penneshaw, visiting the local market.

Via the shore-based tours and hire cars is how they get to visit us. The visitors either enjoy a guided tour, cider tasting, taste our yummy homemade damper & KI jam or simply get to browse the shop. We get to see a whole range of different people from around the world. There have been cruise ships with Aussies, Americans, Europeans and more! Some passengers are on a world cruise for over 100 days and others on a quick weekend trip. We really do get a variety of cruise ships passengers visit, that will hopefully return one day for a longer stay.

Some of the cruise liners we have had are Princess Cruises, P&O and Queen Mary 2, one of the biggest being the Majestic Princess with 3200 passengers and 1339 crew.
