Kangaroo Island Australia Day Award Ceremony 2023

Australia Day Celebrations, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus oil Kangaroo Island

At this years 2023 Australia Day Celebration, our granddaughter Maggie had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem in front of the biggest turnout I’ve seen in a long time! It’s fantastic to see the local community come out and celebrate all the deserving award winners on the day.

Maggie Banton learnt the National Anthem in 7 days and did a fantastic performance in front of everyone. Maggie’s beautiful headpiece was made by her Great Aunty Lindy from Frogs & Roses Florist, from native flora.

The Australia Day Awards recognise and congratulate everyday Islanders who have had excellent achievements and services to the community. We were so pleased to see that the 2023 Citizen of the Year went to Mos Howard who has served as a volunteer Ambulance Officer for over 10 years! Mos’s commitment and service to the Island is outstanding and we are very lucky to have him in our community. Mos also received a Volunteer Distinguished Service Award from the SAS in 2020. So well deserved!
