Honouring Our History at Emu Ridge
We were proud to have taken part in South Australia’s History Month in May and even more excited to unveil some special upgrades, thanks to a History Grant! With the support of the grant, we’ve restored the MacGillivray Post Office and memorabilia and added new signage sharing the story of eucalyptus oil, once one of Kangaroo Island’s biggest industry and Australia’s first true export. Visitors enjoyed stepping back in time with our tours, and entry is always free for locals, so come and take a look if you haven’t already! More info here… |

Some Sad News as Algal Bloom Affects SA Coastline
A large and persistent harmful algal bloom has been impacting South Australia’s coastline since March, including areas around Kangaroo Island. The bloom has caused discoloured water, foam, and widespread marine life deaths, with dead fish, sharks, and shellfish washing up on beaches. While not dangerous to humans, it can cause skin and eye irritation. Scientists say the bloom may last for a number of years and could return worse, driven by environmental factors like marine heatwaves and river outflows. See more HERE |
