Emu Ridge receives a grant from the Activating Heritage Tourism Program

We are excited to be a successful participant in the Activating Heritage Tourism Grant Program. Alongside of 12 other businesses that also offer heritage tourism experiences across South Australia.
We have received a small grant so that we can enhance the visitor experience at Emu Ridge, specifically centered around the history of the South Australian eucalyptus oil industry and the MacGillivray Post Office on Kangaroo Island.
Our project gave us some of our new history signage, hopefully giving you a better understanding of our history t about SA’s Eucalyptus oil industry. Pictures and Memorabilia and the story of the past Post Offices on Kangaroo Island, housed in the original Macgillivray Post Office museum. We hope you enjoy our new additions.
We hope creating these educational resources will enrich the experience of the Kangaroo Island community, school groups, and visitors interested in regional history. With a focus on our historical preservation, cultural enrichment, and education.
TiCSA partnered with the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) will deliver the program to support the activation and enhancement of our state’s heritage tourism offerings.
Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, the Hon Susan Close MP says, “Heritage Tourism connect visitors to the South Australian character and way of life. These grants will give tourism businesses and attractions a ‘hand up’ so that they can creatively engage visitors in our stories.”
Our CEO Shaun de Bruyn says, “We have loved partnering with the State Government to deliver the grant program. The high level of engagement and the diversity of businesses that have participated in the program shows the breadth of incredible stories we have to share as a state.”
