This link will show your our  Eucalyptus Oil harvest and production at Emu Ridge, and as a result, we have lots of perfect sterile garden mulch for sale. We use this mulch here at Emu Ridge on the plantations in between the rows to help keep as much moisture in as possible and it’s used to help start the fire. It’s much finer than our previous hand-harvested mulch, which makes it perfect for garden beds, making them nice and neat and it will keep out all those weeds!

WHAT IS EMU RIDGE EUCY MULCH

Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch is a sterilized, organic leaf mulch made from the leaves and twigs of the Kangaroo Island Narrow Leaf Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia). It can be applied at any time of the year.

It comes from the process of distilling Emu Ridge Pure Eucalyptus Oil where the leaves and twigs are sterilized in steam for four hours which removes tannins and the oil.  Sterilization kills weed seeds and insects, ensuring a pure, clean, organic leaf mulch.

It has the natural look of a forest floor and a lovely bushland fragrance.

Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch comprises 100% natural plant material and contains Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Iron, and trace elements.  It has a pH range of 5.8 – 6.5.

Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch allows good air and water circulation, encouraging better root growth.  It absorbs the rain whilst preventing it from compacting the surface soil and breaks down into a rich, friable, organic humus after two or three years. It is a light and porous material which is heavy enough not to blow about in windy conditions.

Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch is tightly packed in grain bags, cement bags, trailers, or trucks.  No order is too large or small.  Price is determined by volume.

WHERE TO USE EMU RIDGE EUCY MULCH

 Native Gardens

 Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch spread to a depth of 30 to 70mm is extremely suitable for native gardens as the natural habitat of many natives is a surface covering of leaves and twigs.  Most natives prefer light sandy soil and Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch stops the soil caking after watering or being washed away.  Also, by keeping out lights, suppresses weed growth, reducing the tiresome work associated with weed control.

Shade, Ornamental and Fruit Trees

 A 30 to 70mm layer of Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch helps keep roots cool, the soil damp and moisture available for plants during hot, dry, and windy weather.  It is particularly useful for fibrous-rooted trees such as citrus.

Shrub and Flower Beds

 Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch given as a 30 to 50mm dressing, helps keep soil temperature constant.

In summer, Eucy Mulch stops reflected heat scorching plants and in winter, it acts as an insulator against biting winds and driving rain.

It is excellent around Azaleas, Rhododendrons, and Camellias.

HOW TO USE EMU RIDGE EUCY MULCH

Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch is easier to spread around plants when it is damp and liable.  Simple hose or wet the mulch a day or two before application.  Water the ground well before spreading the mulch.  If the soil is compacted, loosen the surface first to allow air and water to penetrate.  You will obtain better weed control if weeds are chipped before Eucy Mulch is spread.

Emu Ridge Eucy Mulch, like all mulches, should be kept away from the base of plant stems to stop the development of collar rot.  This is particularly important with seedlings and native plants.

At the time of application, it is worthwhile applying a light sprinkling of a nitrogenous fertilizer such as blood and bone, to avoid any possibility of an imbalance of soil nutrients.
