Smelly Stinky Shoes be gone!

The stench of stinky shoes can be overwhelming and make you want to throw them away. Heres a few great tips to remove and prevent the odors for someone with stinky shoes!

  • My personal favorite -Baking soda is awesome. Mix some baking soda, Eucalyptus and Tea Tree oil together and pop it into some old cotton socks. Baking soda its great for absorbing odors, seal with a rubber band. leave the socks in your shoes when your not wearing them. Ive heard kitty litter can be used the same way.

  • Just pop in some Tea Bags and leave overnight!

  • To make the teabags even more efficient add a few drops of Tea Tree or Eucalyptus oil, you can also wipe the insides of your shoes on a regular basis to kill the bacteria that causes the odour.

  • Here’s another tip, its an old wives tale but apparently it works. Stuff the shoes with newspaper. That’s right. Newspaper it will absorb the odor! Leave over night and your shoes should be “stink-free” come morning!

  • Dryer sheets with a few drops of Eucalyptus oil will absorb the odors. Tear them in half and leave in your shoes when you not wearing them.

  • If you can, wash them, pop them  in the washing machine add a teaspoon of Eucalyptus Oil with normal washing detergent and then dry them completely. From then on use the above tips and they will never stink again!!

Here is a couple of recipes to help you as well:

Homemade Shoe Deodorizing Powder

The dry ingredients in this homemade deodorizing powder are odor absorbing, and the tea tree oil’s antiseptic properties help the kill bacteria that cause smelly shoes. Dump out the dust before wearing your shoes.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons baking soda
1 tablespoon cornstarch
4 drops of Eucalyptus Oil and 4 drops of Tea Tree Oil

Directions

1. Shake or stir until thoroughly mixed.

2. Sprinkle shoe deodorizing powder  into your shoes after each time you wear them and let it sit overnight. (You might want to keep a shaker can of this mixture in the laundry room for regular use.)

3. Shake the powder out before wearing.

Homemade Shoe Deodorizing Spray

Some people swear by deodorizing smelly shoes with Febreze after each wear. If you don’t have skin allergies or sensitivities to corn, that’s worth a try. Here’s a homemade, all-natural shoe deodorizing spray if you’d rather DIY it.

Ingredients

1/4 cup water
1/2 cup white vinegar
4 drops of Eucalyptus oil and 4 drops of Tea Tree oil

Let me know your favorite or the one that works best for you, we would love to hear from you!

Directions

1. Lightly spray the shoe insoles after each wearing.
2. Let your shoes air dry.
